Political Update
I have been avoiding this update because there is simply way too much to talk about. But it needs to be done. So bare with me folks.
Let me start by saying I finally tried the “Hop Obama” beer brewed by Sixpoint Craft Ales in Brooklyn, New York. It’s very good. The beer was brewed after Obama’s inspiring grassroots campaigning. The beer is clean and dignified like his campaign. The intentions of the beer match the campaign efforts. It’s a hoppy amber ale that is about 5.2% abv. It’s got a nice hop aroma and it tastes like fresh clean hops. Strong taste at first but finishes clean on the palate allowing the rest of the beers attributes to come through. Look for it in New York and the Boston area. It’s in limited release though.
So, what’s been happening in the world of politics? Where do I begin? I guess the Jeremiah Wright comments are a good place to start.
The Jeremiah Wright incident is completely bogus. First off all there are other controversial figures out there who are endorsing candidates and have said terrible and evil things as well. Reverend Hagee for instance. That guy is a hateful bigot. And McCain actually sought out his endorsement. But McCain has skated by on that issue. One or two quick media blurbs and who cares? They’re republicans. It’s well known that they are all about bigotry and racism right?
The thing to take note of is that the media blew the situation out of proportion. What Jeremiah Wright was saying wasn’t exactly wrong. Even though he said a lot of distasteful things and a lot of wrong things as well, the context in which he said them was more important. His main point over the Sept. 11 remarks was that The United States is reaping what they sow. It is a true statement said at the most inappropriate of times. He didn’t say that he thought we deserved it, or that he though innocent people should have died. But America’s involvement in past issues have led to these moments now. Again he never said innocent people deserved to die or that terrorists are right to murder innocent people. Also Wright was quoting retired Ambassador Edward Peck. A white guy.

Having said all that, I don’t agree with everything that Jeremiah Wright has said. And neither does Barack Obama. Wright really has said some bone headed things. But this shouldn’t be taken out on Obama. If it isn’t taken out on any other candidate for the actions of the psychos Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and John Hagee, then why should Barack Obama have to pay for someone else’s sins? Sure Obama has a long history and intimate relationship with this man. But the way Barack Obama handled it with his calm demeanor and brilliant speech, this is the kind of man you want leading this country. You want a guy who can handle a situation as critical as this in the manner in which he did. The media still wants to make this a bigger issue than it is. Pat Buchanan and idiots like Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough refuse to let this go. Of course they are republicans who wish to see Clinton the nominee because McCain has a better shot of beating her in November.

It took a few days for the impact of Barack Obama’s speech to take hold and the republican analysts really didn’t want to see it improve his number, but sadly for them, Barack was able to put a cap on the damage. His speech will go down as one of the most important speeches of our life times. It may not be as potent as “I have a dream,” but it’s still an amazing speech and of the most important speeches to come along in ages.
Although these polls are really irrelevant, it’s still important to note the recovery of a bad situation.

And of course Reverend Wright was the man Bill had at the white house during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

And then of course people want to point out that after Obama’s speech on race, he slipped up and said “typical white person” when referring to his grandmother. Yeah not the smartest thing to say, but America is missing one important point. Barack Obama is white too! Yeah what he said wasn’t P.C. but the damn media spends all of their time portraying Barack as the black guy in the boxing ring. He is black and he is white too. But again those comments were taken out of context. The media knew it and ran with it anyway.
In fact it got so bad, Fox news had some serious problems on their morning show about it. A guy actually walked off the set because the bigots on Fox would not report the news as s and wasted 2 hours talking about the “typical white person” remarks and did not even bother to report the rest of the news.

It’s a full on assault on Obama at Fox news. I realize that no persons in their right mind watches Fox or as the nick names go, Faux News or Fixed News. But Fixed Noise has been after him ever since he denied the Fox Debates. And they have made no guffs about being against him either.

And of course Sean Hannity makes the worst person list. I will let Keith explain that one. It’s pretty bad too.
So now that all of this has gone down, there was some good news. Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson officially endorses Barack Obama. And in true Hillary Clinton fashion she acted like it was not important. Mark Penn was quoted as saying “Perhaps the time when he could have been most effective has long since past.”

Richardson also said that he resents Clinton suggesting that his only real value was to sway Hispanics. Especially since the Hispanic community has not been major fans of Richardson.
Worst of all was James Carville comparing Richardson to Judas. Judas being the man who betrayed Jesus. I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried.
Clinton fans are psycho.
It’s typical Hillary Bullshit. Ignore them and pretend that major losses don’t matter. Barring the fact that Hillary and Bill both called Richardson last week asking him what he was going to do. He had been in Hillary’s camp for a while and it was expected that he would choose her. But he had been fed up with her type of campaigning. And he sees it dividing the party. He wants it to stop. Richardson said after Texas and Ohio, who ever had the lead in pledged delegates and popular vote should be the nominee. Guess what? That was Barack Obama. It did take Richardson a while to endorse Barack, but I am glad he finally chose because his reasoning was sound.
With Richardson being a Super Delegate and a well known Hillary supporter who has switched to the other side, this is big news. He will no doubt be the leader in a massive trend and movement towards Obama. Hillary wants to down play this endorsement as fast as she can.
Side Note: Since Feb. 5th, Hillary Clinton has not picked up one Super Delegate. That’s 17 states and not one new Super Delegate. Who the fuck is she kidding honestly?
Let’s not leave Bill Clinton out of the fray. Oh yeah he stepped in it again with his big mouth and shitty remarks about Barack Obama. Bill Clinton wants the Super Delegates and remaining voters to question Barack Obama’s Patriotism.

Now let’s get into Hillary Clinton a little bit and her so called experience. She has done the worst thing she could have done to herself, she lied. And not only did she lie, she lied in very big ways.
Let’s start with the minor details.

Clinton is also down on the donation front. Despite earning $35 mil for the month of Feb. She is in the red.
Her ship is sinking fast. Politico seems to think so and so does Mark Halperin of the TIME Magazine.
