So we have reached the critical stages of the primaries. And I still insist that this battle for the democratic nomination is like the end battle of Smith and Neo in the Matrix. I wrote a long piece about it comparing the details of the movie to the primaries and the democratic candidates. You need to read about that HERE. It will help you make better sense of where I am going with this second post.
Where we are now, is a virtual dead even tie. Barack pulled out more states and Hillary pulled out the big states. The delegates have been split virtually down the middle and the numbers are all over the place. Hillary is slightly ahead. And I mean it’s slight.
This is the part in the movie where Smith begins to get the upper hand on Neo. They are in the crater they created while fighting in the air and crashing in to the ground. Smith delivers Neo a crucial blow, and as Neo starts to get back up it angers Smith. Smith says ” Why Mr Anderson? Why do you get up? Why do you persist?” And Neo says calmy “Because I choose to.”
Choice is something the machine world can never understand, like Hillary can’t understand Barack’s momentum and why she isn’t the clear front runner. Her ego, disgusting posturing, and dismissive attitude about anything Barack has accomplished is proof of that. And how she responds to the Super Tuesday results. She will no doubt be egotistical about it, but clearly she needs to worry.
This is what this Super Tuesday results are like. It’s so close. Neo hits Smith, Smith hits Neo.
Now all we need is the Oracle to put her backing and support behind Neo. The Oracle would be John Edwards. Bill Richardson should jump in and support him too, but he is would be more like Sahti. The little girl who was with the Oracle when Smith took them over.
The Oracle did say she was there to upset the balance. And she never tells you the exact answers you are looking for, only what you needed to hear. So in Edwards case, when he made Clinton and Obama pander to him, it was to see if they would take the right path. Although Edwards absence could be like the Oracle being taken over by Smith. And if Edwards speaks out now on behalf of Barack, it could be like the Oracle speaking through Smith when Smith thinks it’s the moment Neo is supposed to die. It could be Edwards last push.
But Edwards gave them just enough. And Edwards had spent his time mostly attacking Hillary’s campaign. It makes sense for him to back Obama at this moment. The Oracle did say in Matrix Reloaded “For what it’s worth kid, you made a believer out of me.”
Maybe this is what Edwards was waiting for. To see if Barack really had it in him. A dangerous game and a bitch tactic.
Maybe Edwards will stop being such a pussy and finally do the right thing and back Obama.
